The media reports on various issues have been always a matter of concern for the people who have been victims of lethal crimes. We could find well-established news channel projecting issues out of proportion. So has happened in the recent coverage of Arushi Talwar’s murder. Ironically, the distortion of facts by some news channels has actually exposed that the media is not only insensitive but merely concerned about its TRP ratings. At a time when the victim’s parents are traumatised and the facts are not known even to the police, how could the channels like India TV make up a story, which has, in fact, once again portrayed them in bad light? Nobody would object the facts being brought to public notice if these could educate, and have been properly verified.
