Indian Muslim Council-USA (IMC-USA) has called upon all Indians to act to demand justice for the pogroms of 2002 in Gujarat.
In 2002 thousands of innocent lives were lost as a result of large scale violence aided by the state machinery of Gujarat. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and other organisations documented the killings, inhuman treatment of women and children holding state administration responsible.
“It is not fitting for the largest democracy to have murderers, rapists and arsonists strutting around with impunity and gloating over their horrific deeds. The rule of law must reign supreme for the citizenry to put their faith in the government.” With these powerful words, Action Alert issued by IMC-USA urge Indians to fax their letter demanding justice for the victims of Gujarat pogrom of 2002 and dismissal of the state government led by Narendra Modi.
Recently Gordhan Zadaphia, former Home Minister of Gujarat confessed on national TV about his and Narendra Modi’s involvement in anti-Muslim pogrom of 2002. Tehelka videos which are interviews with the rapists and murderers who were directly involved in the pogrom “leave little doubt about Narendra Modi’s involvement in facilitating these crimes against humanity,” according to the action alert released by IMC-USA.
Action Alert provides a sample letter that can be modified to be faxed. IMC-USA listed the fax number of the President, the Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme court, National Human Rights Commission and the Chief Election Commissioner urging all concerned Indians to send their modified letter to demand justice for the Gujarat victims.
In a press release issued after Tehelka videos, IMC-USA had demanded imposition of President’s rule in Gujarat, constitution of a special fast track court to be set up outside Gujarat to speed up the cases of 2002 violence. This Action Alert seems to be a follow up of that press release.
