Only 42 per cent of Indian graduates are employable, according to a report which also says that their creativity is low. Is this the reason why unemployment is so high in the country?

We have a huge network of universities and institutions of higher learning in the country which have all the resources and expertise to provide the best of learning in the world. So, if the graduates and postgraduates emerging from these institutions are not fit for employment, it definitely points to a lack of coordination between industry and academia. Unless there is a massive effort to make business and industry share their specific needs for the ideal workforce with academia, this glaring lacuna will continue unresolved.

‘Governor Appointed to Implement RSS Agenda’

It was reported that Tamil Nadu VCK chief TholThirumavalavan, MP,said in Trichy recently that governor R.N. Ravi has been appointed to implement RSS agenda in the state. He said that Hindi should not be imposed on states where non-Hindi languages are the mother tongues of the large segments of masses in the respective States.

Forcing the people who speak Tamil as their mother tongue to learn Hindi yet again exposes hisdominating attitude.R.N. Raviis continuously speaking forimplementing the ‘one nation, one language’ agenda of RSS.He wants to turn Tamil intoHindi-speaking population,Thirumavalavan said.

The people in Tamil Nadu have taken a firm stand to reject any move to implement the RSS agenda in the State.

Treat Deportees Humanely

It was terrible to read about the plight of the several hundred deportees who have arrived from the US in India after being labelled illegal immigrants.

Imagine being unceremoniously bundled into aircraft in shackles and sent back to their country after spending several lakhs in their attempt to secure a job and a living in the US. The governments – both at the Centre and in the states concerned – should do much more than receive these hapless citizens and send them back to their hometowns. They should be provided gainful employment in tune with their qualifications so that a message is sent out to the world and to the US in particular that we Indians know how to take care of our people in the best manner possible.
