Almighty blessed Siddique Hassan Sahib with many talents and knowledge, which he utilised for the welfare of downtrodden and socially and educationally backward people. He was a man of truth, honesty and hard work. He worked day and night for the upliftment of poor people irrespective of caste or creed.
I was his student at University College, Trivandrum, in 1973, as my second language for Degree was Arabic. He was a great teacher and an inborn scholar. Even though he was a prolific writer and great scholar, his scholarship never reflected in his face. He was always simple and humble. He treated everyone equally, and respected wisemen and elders. Even at the height of his glorious days when he was appointed in the high offices he found time to attend to the words of poor people.
In Trivandrum, during his time as a lecturer and later professor of Arabic at University College, he conducted study classes at his residence. We used to attend his excellent Qur’ān classes, and his wife was in charge of conducting classes for ladies.
He was a very good organiser and his leadership qualities should be appreciated. His sincerity and devotion reflected in all his activities. He implemented various projects successfully. (I am not mentioning the list of his activities as I expect a detailed official write-up. Please read Obituary on Pages 26 and 27).
He met people with a smile which no one who met him would forget. He used his God-given potential for the good of his fellow human being. He was a humanitarian and philanthropist.
I have written this as I was his student and had a long relationship with him, not only at Trivandrum but when I shifted to Calicut region I met him several times and he helped me to write a serial article in Prabhodhanam weekly in 1990. May Allah Bless him in the life Hereafter.
