Indecent Remarks

Since these Muslim Officers are bound by service-rules, they cannot defend themselves and hit back on such communal remarks. Such remarks by responsible persons holding constitutional posts will widen the gulf and increase bitterness between Muslims and non-Muslims. Their remarks and comments will add fuel to fire.

Ms. FauziaTarannum, an IAS Officer and Dy. Commissioner of Kalburgi (Karnataka) is called a “Pakistani” by N.Ravi Kumar, an MLC from BJP. Kumar also made an objectionable remark that “she seems to have come from Pakistan”. Colonel Sophiya Qureshi has been termed as a “sister of terrorists” by Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah, who is from BJP.  Certain Muslim officers are alleged to have been on pay-roll of ISI, member of spy-network of an enemy country or Lashkar-e-Toiba or Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Government must take stern actions against such communal politicians to prevent further polarisation of people. The sooner, the better.

Child Marriage Problem

The marriage age as fixed for the boy and the girl in India is 21 and 18 years respectively.  Marriage below the same age is considered child marriage which is banned and also punishable in India. Many boys and girls who have entered into wedlock infringing the same marriage age are already punished in Assam.

Actually the basic objective behind the child marriage ban in India is to check and regulate the abnormal population growth resulting in mass unemployment and healthcare problems in India. Now India is the most populous country in the world trailing China.

It is alleged that the child marriage is rampant among boys and girls belonging to Assam’s tea tribes and it mainly happens through elopement. But it is also seen prevalent among many other communities in India. The boy elopes with the girl he loves and they start living together even for two years suspending child birth through cheap contraceptive measures available in market. When they reach marriageable age, they get their marriage registered in the court and lead a lawful and normal conjugal life in society.

However, elopement as practised by some boys and girls either before or after the marriageable age paves the way for them a consensual sex, which is adultery and it stands seriously in opposition to India’s culture and all religions. Moreover, it often gives rise to debauchery and sex-related crimes in society. It is said that a society when it witnesses adultery at large is deprived of God’s mercy.

Parents must stop elopement for maintaining etiquette and social well-beins and give their wards marriage according to their choice when they attain marriageable age soon.

An Excellent Article

I invite your kind attention to an article titled “Understanding Terrorism” by Ms. NazranaDarvesh vide Issue No.6 of Radiance dated 17th May, 2025.

The learned writer has taken pains to expose conspiracies by certain power-hungry regimes. The writer has written each and every incident with concrete proof. Compliments to the writer for her exemplary courage.

Let me conclude the letter by quoting the learned writer, “History has shown numerous cases where those portrayed as victims of terrorism were actually the culprits. In many instances, attacks are deliberately staged to blame the enemy, serving hidden agendas….”

May the tribe of such bold writers increase so that weak, poor and marginalised people can breathe and live with dignity and honour.
