The National agitation of Welfare Party of India which began on 1 April on the theme, “India for All Indians” concluded on 18 April with a march from Mandi House to the Parliament Street where various leaders and social activists addressed the grand rally on the recent rape crimes at various places and on the attack on Minorities and Dalits across India. Leaders demanded protection of women and strict punishment against those committing crimes against women.

While addressing the rally, Welfare Party of India President Dr. S.Q.R Ilyas said the BJP and the RSS are trying to divide the society and community on religious lines and trying to create hatred and atmosphere of hate within communities with the help of one issue or another. According to him, the recent incidents of rape crimes have ashamed Indians nationally and internationally. Instead of standing with the victims, people in the BJP are supporting the perpetrators of the crime which we have seen in Unnao, Kathua and many other parts of the country. Like-minded political parties will have to rise up to the occasion to be on the side of the oppressed and to provide justice for the victims.

Welfare Party National Secretary K. Ambuzakshan said a kind of communal atmosphere and polarisation of mind is going on by undermining the Constitutional institutions and trying to impose a certain culture.

Dr Suresh Mane, Convener of National Bahujan Dalit, asked the people and the politicians there to come together if they really want to do something as this is the only way to meet the present challenges.

People displayed placards with messages like Minorities, Dalits, Adivasi, North East People Lives Matter and also Justice to Rape Victims. Mother of martyr Hafiz Zunaid, Mrs Sheema Mohsin said her pains and suffering of losing her son could have been felt only by the Prime Minister if he had a family and children. Former IGP, SR Darapuri said everything that is happening is being done in a planned manner and the incident of Kathua was aimed at teaching the community a lesson and showing as to what extent they can go against them.

Social and human rights activist, Prof Ram Puniyani asked the people there to decide as to whether they want to allow the BJP and its forces to make India a Hindu rashtra or they want to put their heads together to save India.
