Our great country India is trying to get its rightful place in the comity of 200 nations of the world. In this struggle, it faces less external dangers but more internal ones. Irresponsible politicians who are playing with the lives of citizens for their selfish motives are responsible for this sorry state of affairs.
In the latest Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP has been taught a lesson that India does not support their divisive policies. The writing on the wall is crystal clear. But the ruling party does not seem to have learneda lesson or two. It does not understand the mood of the people despite the drubbing it received in its most communalized state, Uttar Pradesh. It banked on the Ayodhya Temple and hate it spread against the 20 percent Muslim citizens of the state. It is still at its old game. Precisely this game can be described as demonization and marginalization of Muslims and poisoning of the minds of the Hindu majority to polarize its vote bank. The recent Parliament elections show that this policy was rejected outright.
The move to further deepen the divide is still at work. This is evident from the Kanwar yatra order that in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts, where Muslims are around 35-40 percent all eateries, tea stalls, shops and even fruit-selling carts must display the names of the owners. It is a clever move to deprive poor Muslim vendors of their livelihood. It also serves the objective of increasing the estrangement between Muslims and Hindus. It also helps in adding to the feelings of helplessness in the Muslim minority. The right-thinking and truly patriotic citizens are angry about this divisive and communal order. But this is the leitmotif of the BJP. The BJP has not any clear-cut concept of nationalism and patriotism. It does not have any solid plan or policy to keep the country united by respecting the principle of unity in diversity. This is extremely harmful to the future of this country of diverse religions, cultures, ethnicities and communities. You can see what is happening in Manipur where Meiteis and Kukis are killing each other. The same game is being played in Jammu & Kashmir where the 1.5 crore citizens have been deprived of their democratic rights since February 2019.
The 20 crore Muslims of India are the worst victims of this hate-filled, anti-Constitution and anti-democracy policy. Did Prime Minister Narendra Modi think even for a second about the protection of the fundamental rights of the second largest majority of the country? Every ordinary citizen of the country understands fully well that such divisive policies may yield them some votes, but in the end, it will destroy the plural society of the country. The world witnessed this in the case of Hitler who destroyed the most prosperous state, Germany.
Rising level of unemployment, inflation, communal poisoning of minds, moves to decimate a vibrant Opposition, misuse of agencies have frustrated the majority of the electorate. Three states are going to the polls shortly; UP Assembly election is due in 2027. Besides this, some by-elections are due for Lok Sabha. BJP will require a drastic course correction. Otherwise, frustrated citizens will teach it some more lessons in good governance and all-inclusive policies. Finally, it is bound to be thrown in the dustbin of history if it does not see the writing on the wall. Nobody will shed a tear on them. But before this, the country will suffer and its 145 crore citizens will also suffer. Let’s see that this does not happen.
