Apropos of ‘Indian Secularism’ (Radiance, 10-16 & 17-23 November 2013). Mr. Khan Yasir’s viewpoint is both contradictory and misleading. He quoted some judgements to highlight the beneficiary aspect of ‘Indian Secularism’ yet ended under the impression that it is a false ideology to be perished as soon as possible.
As nobody embraces an illegitimate child, it is a horrible yet wonderful coincidence that the Hindutvites as well as some others wish the said ‘child’ to die! The former consider it an appeasement (policy) towards Muslims and other minorities, while the later term it as atheism (false ideology). There is no need to refer to dictionaries and encyclopaedias to define Indian secularism as the fundamental rights of the country’s Constitution give exemplary definition. Some judgements are also helpful. The resolution of JIH (August 1970) guided us but who cares to read it!
