Change comes from within, and the will to change oneself can transform the world. The new year brings many hopes, and the future presents numerous challenges. Progress lies in navigating the space between them, where many people’s dreams come true.
To understand the perspective of the Indian youth in 2024, I engaged in dialogues with well-known young personalities such as Wali Rahmani, a motivational speaker and the founder of Umeed Academy; Musheera Ashraf, Ladly awardee and research scholar; and Meer Faisal, a young journalist whose stories have been featured on many international platforms like Al Jazeera and TRT.

Allah does not change the condition of people unless they themselves want to change it (Al Quran 13:11).
This ayah encapsulates both hope and challenge. The challenge lies in the fact that our conditions won’t change unless we actively strive for it. The hope is that should we desire change, Allah will assist us in transforming our conditions.
We all aspire to become the best version of ourselves, continually striving for improvement each day. Thus, if we genuinely seek to change our lives and are willing to put in the effort, progress is inevitable.
Education plays a pivotal role in our development. It extends beyond studying for exams, encompassing knowledge and the righteousness of leading a balanced life. Education empowers us, providing an understanding of our rights and instilling the courage to speak the truth.
In today’s world, people face myriad challenges, with distrust, hatred, and falsehood on the rise, often propagated by the media. Unfortunately, the media, supposedly the 4th pillar of democracy and the flag bearer of truth, falls short. It becomes the responsibility of the youth to be educated and comprehend current affairs.
Youth should advocate for truth, stand against hatred, and work towards societal harmony. As Malcolm X warned, being mindful of what we read in newspapers is crucial to prevent sympathizing with oppressors and harboring resentment against the oppressed. The ongoing situation in Palestine is a stark illustration of this, emphasizing that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
True progress transcends the construction of skyscrapers and the imitation of others’ cultures as our own. It materializes when, as humans, we exude humanity in every facet of life, irrespective of religion or gender.
By doing so, we can overcome evils and truly claim progress. In the life of Rasulullah ﷺ, the majority of those trained for revolutionary endeavors was youths. Hence, it is imperative to guide our youth on a clear path, achievable through education.

With the commencement of a new year, the absence of a recent census introduces a level of uncertainty to the stories of ambitions, desires, and challenges that characterize this growing population. Young India, as per the more than a decade-old 2011 census and the ironic development of technological advancements often seen as a symbol of convenience and decreased difficulties, creates confusion. This enhances ambiguity about the potential advantages of artificial intelligence and the need for human creativity and resourcefulness.
The pages of calendar turn, and with each progressing day, the dilemma intensifies. Striking a balance between the prospect of tasks facilitated by technology and the concern over a decrease in critical thinking and creativity. India, boasting the largest youth population globally, is also grappling with alarming levels of unemployment among its vibrant age group.
The prominent task at hand is the pursuit of balance in a world where artificial intelligence establishes itself as a powerful and formidable entity. The dynamic nature of technology generates unparalleled opportunities while simultaneously transforming industries and shaping the labor market in fundamental and unanticipated ways. Amidst this state of unpredictability, the young generation of India should demonstrate persistence and adaptability, skilfully navigating through the constantly changing forces of advancement.
However, the shift does not solely focus on issues. Amidst challenges, there is a unique opportunity for young individuals to actively shape the trajectory of the future. The ethical utilization of AI is becoming a disputed domain where young folks can influence the course of technological progress. India’s youth is currently facing the challenge of balancing tradition with innovation. Their journey is potentially enough to be described as a captivating narrative of skillfully managing the rapid advancements in technology at times. While maintaining wisdom, resilience, and a commitment to ethical progress still remain a challenge.

As we step into 2024, the youth in India are filled with hope for the future. India’s young generation, in this era of technological advancements, holds a myriad of dreams and ambitions. Social media acts as a global platform, connecting us despite our differences.
However, this online connection poses its challenges, particularly in balancing our real and online identities. Navigating the internet’s complexities, we strive to preserve our rich culture.
Despite these challenges, young Indians exhibit resilience, akin to diverse bouquets contributing to the nation’s progress. Regardless of our religious affiliations, unity prevails as we collectively work towarda better future. Education serves as the cornerstone, enabling us to be architects of change. Yet, the job market’s volatility presents challenges, and economic fluctuations impact our financial stability and career plans.
Overcoming these obstacles demands strength, activism, and a commitment to mutual understanding. Amid challenges, numerous opportunities arise, necessitating a grasp of evolving technology. Certification courses offered by platforms like YouTube open doors, encouraging us to leverage these opportunities for a brighter future.
As a Muslim journalist, I advocate for peaceful coexistence, and celebrating diversity. Our success extends beyond monetary gains; it embodies unity amid diverse stories. By the grace of the Almighty, our stories are recognized by international platforms like Al Jazeera and TRT, showcasing our contributions.
Many Muslims, including myself, actively contribute to the mainstream and the nation. Indian Muslim youth are integral to this journey, dreaming big, challenging stereotypes, and propelling the country’s progress. Let’s collectively envision an India where the dreams of the youth converge, challenges are met with strength, and progress becomes a collaborative effort that includes everyone.
