Innovation Council and Incubation Centre of AMU Gets Darul Khalil as Dedicated Place

In a unique way of paying back to Alma Mater, seven siblings, who are AMU alumni, have gifted their parental house ‘Darul Khalil’ in Badarbagh area to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

The gifted property ‘Darul Khalil’ will be used as a dedicated place for the Innovation Council and Incubation Centre on the directions of Vice Chancellor AMU. This centre is set to facilitate and create awareness drive to make AMU a hub of harnessing ideas/ creativity at the national level.

One of the sons of Late Kunwar Abdul Khalil Khan, Mr. Mohd Adil, a leading businessman in Retail Sector (Gulf Region) and also an alumnus of AMU and Harvard Business School inaugurated the Innovation Council and Incubation Centre.

Mr. Adil said, “All his siblings are well established because of the affordable quality education we received at AMU and when we give back to our alma mater, we get a sense of satisfaction in knowing that we’re furthering the aims of the institution that did so much to educate us and give us a better life.”

The Vice Chancellor thanked Mr. Adil and family members for their contribution and said, “Thanks to donors like Khalil Family – the Campaign for AMU is more than a philanthropic initiative – it is an extraordinary effort that is helping this institution change the lives of future generations.”

He added that the Innovation Council of the University aims to create an atmosphere where the research and innovation activities could be nurtured and enhanced by tapping and unleashing the hidden innovative potential and skills of our students and teachers in bringing these to higher level. He informed that a Committee has been formed; Prof S Imtiaz Hasnain is the Chairman while Prof Mohammad Sajjad Athar is the Convener of the Centre.

Welcoming the gathering, Prof. S Imtiyaz Hasnain (Chairman), appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor for giving a dedicated place. He also praised the efforts of Khalil Family for donating ‘Darul Khalil’.

Prof. Sajjad Athar (convenor) said that  Centre for Innovation has been formulated, keeping in view the vision of the Institute which strives to encourage entrepreneurship and aims to act as a platform to create an interface between academia, business and research.

In the inaugural ceremony Finance Officer SM Jawed Akhtar, AMUTA Secretary Prof Najmul Islam, Director IQAC Prof M Rizwan Khan, MIC Building Prof. Mubeen Beg, University Engineer Tariq Nazir, Old Boy Kunwar Junaid, Prof Riaz Mahmood (Chairman Bio Chem), Prof. Asadullah Khan (Coordinator Bio Tech Unit) and other prominent officials of the University were present.
