Professor Salim Engineer, President of The Board of Islamic Publications (Publisher of Radiance Viewsweekly) and Mohd Naushad Khan, Sub-Editor of Radiance, met with the former Vice President of India, Mr. Hamid Ansari at his residence in the national capital on Thursday, 10th August 2023. During the meet, issues pertaining to Indian Muslims, minorities and the prevailing ambiance of the country were discussed. In over one hour meet, the President of The Board of Islamic Publications also shared his viewpoints.
CALLS FOR ECONOMIC BOYCOTT OF MUSLIMS UNACCEPTABLE: SC
The Supreme Court on August 11 remarked that calls made for economic boycott of Muslims after the communal violence in Haryana’s Nuh district were “unacceptable”, Bar and Bench reported. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti suggested formation of a committee headed by the Haryana Director General of Police to examine complaints of hate speech reported in the aftermath of the violence. If allegations are found true, the judges said that directions can be issued to the police authorities to act against the miscreants.
IMAM BUKHARI CALLS UPON PM TO MEET MUSLIM INTELLECTUALS
The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, New Delhi, Imam Ahmed Bukhari raised concerns over “a storm of hatred prevailing in the country”. Delivering the Friday sermon, Bukhari said, “The way hatred is being spread in the country, the Prime Minister should listen and address the concerns of the Indian Muslim community.” Referring to the killing of Muslims by a Railway Police Force officer and the violence in Nuh, Haryana, the Imam suggested: “The Prime Minister and the Home Minister should meet Muslim intellectuals and try to address their grievances.”
