May Allah, the Almighty give you more strength and ability to serve the Ummah (Aameen). You also deserve kudos for your thought provoking editorial in the current issue (26 April-2 May 2015) of the Radiance Viewsweekly.
As regards your interview with the respected Amir-e-Jamaat, the same is excellent.
My humble observations on the interview may be read as under:
1. It is great on the part of Ameer-e-Jamaat when he says, “I still think the Jamaat needed a better person than me to lead; and had they tried hard, they would have found such a person.” This is a show of immense humility. However, Maulana has perhaps missed the golden opportunity by not excusing shouldering this overwhelming responsibility in view of his health and age. He would have been totally within his right to exercise this option, more so when a very fitting, legitimate and suitable alternative was straight away available. The only hitch by adopting this option would have been for the seniors and scholars in the Jamaat for working under a junior leader. Islamic history is full of instances when seniors have worked gracefully under their superior juniors. Even our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) had on occasions assigned sensitive duties to young companions and none objected to it.
2. Alhamdulillah, the Jamaat is about to complete 70 years of its existence in the country. Sadly however, it still remains the organisation mainly of elites and intellectuals. You should have drawn the attention of the Ameer-e-Jamaat to this fact and impressed upon adopting measures to make it the organisation for common man too.
3. Perhaps, it is an exaggeration that, “thousands of persons have joined it as arkaan (members)” during the last two consecutive terms of the Ameer-e-Jamaat. Likewise, it seems to be a bit unrealistic that, “the literature distributed during this campaign comes to millions of copies.”
4. You have touched “Dawah”, “Tarbiyah”, “WPI”, “Media”, etc. in detail. However, another very important subject of “Public Welfare” has not been touched properly. We can permeate the masses by offering them practical solutions to problems confronted by them in their day-to-day lives. If we do not show concern for their worldly hardship, how will they believe that we are their well-wishers for the eternal lives in the hereafter? Our efforts on this front are perhaps not adequate.
5. In the context of WPI, you are totally right when you say, “It has created a somewhat grotesque situation.” Maulana should adopt appropriate measures to end this uncertainty in the current tenure.
6. Unity among the Muslim Ummah is the foremost need of the hour. Endeavouring for unity among Muslim organisations will be the first and the right step towards this great goal. Jamaat should double its efforts to accomplish this noble cause.
These are my humble and raw thoughts. It is hoped they will be taken in right earnest.
