On 7 March when the whole world was talking of empowerment of women and giving them rights equal to men, I picked up a newspaper from my dad’s table only to read a heart wrenching story of a minor girl in Kerala who was barely 4 and was subjected to her protector’s lust. I thought what is the Women Day for if a girl that too a minor is not safe even this day? Is the day meant only for creating hoo-ha about  increasing harassment of women and indulging in an open-ended discussion on the topic for a whole day earmarked for the same? Women Day is nothing but a political gimmick and I do not think it would do any good to secure women’s honour. In fact, what is needed is a change and revolution at mass level. Enough has been written and said on the subject. Now the time has come to implement what is being said for a long time. Also, the females should take oath on the very day not tp expose themselves as mere commodity and an “object” to increase the TRP of news channels or to sell a product.
