When Jai Prakash Singh, an IPS officer and a third semester law student at Lucknow University, was “caught red-handed” while copying during the examinations about six months back along with others at different centres, he had allegedly threatened the members of the “flying squad”, who had caught him, with dire consequences and dared them to take action against him. Six months later, Singh proved that what he had said was correct.  While the results of other ordinary students, who were caught using unfair means, were cancelled, Singh “escaped unhurt”.  His roll number did not figure in the list of the examinees, whose results had been cancelled for using unfair means at examinations. The list was released on May 16. Singh, who was then the regional passport officer, had been caught using unfair means by the flying squad of the varsity in December, 2011. The IPS officer had written something on his question paper, which was against the rules. He started misbehaving with the members of the squad when they objected. The squad members then frisked him and recovered a piece of paper, which carried information meant for the examination.
