Iran and Tajikistan have taken fresh steps to strengthen bilateral relations, holding a series of high-level meetings focused on economic cooperation, security coordination, and environmental protection amid growing regional challenges and shifting geopolitical dynamics.

The latest discussions underscore the continued efforts of the two Persian-speaking nations to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, building on longstanding cultural and historical ties.On June 5, Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, met with Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Seyed Mohammad Atabak, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the Tajik Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, the two ministers agreed that industrial cooperation between their countries had entered a ‘qualitatively new stage’. Their discussions focused on a wide range of potential joint ventures, including textile production based on Tajik cotton and Iranian technology, metallurgy and mineral processing projects, agricultural machinery manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, construction materials, and chemical and coal-processing industries.

The ministers also reviewed plans for establishing a joint industrial park in Tajikistan and explored opportunities to incorporate digital technologies and artificial intelligence into industrial management.
