The news item headlined ‘Saudi Arabia takes bulldozer to Islam’s history’ in Times Global (dt 28 Oct. 2012, page22 by Jerome Taylor) carries gross inaccuracies and illustrates typical lack of information.
Islam’s history is not isolated from that of mankind right from Prophet Adam till the Day of Judgment and Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) is not the founder of Islam (as referred to in the report and as has been the favourite propaganda of Christian missionaries) but is the seal of all Islamic Messengers of Allah.
The reporter confuses between Mecca and Medina, expansion and destruction, oldest and holiest as well as the three most holy mosques (Ka’ba, Masjid-e-Nabavi and Al Aqsa) and the three tombs (of Prophet Muhammad, Caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar) at Masjid-e-Nabavi. Also the reporter says ‘anger is already growing…etc.’ at this expansion project without mentioning who is angry at this.
