Indian citizens, especially its young generation, are extremely restless. This is evident especially in the North Indian States. It is happening in spite of the fact that the BJP is capturing state after state, as recently it was seen in Assam, Bihar and West Bengal. There is widespread dissatisfaction, frustration and resentment which is turning into anger.
On the economic front there is full-fledged failure. The dream of a robust economy, vishwaguru status and five trillion economy has turned sour. In spite of spending large sums, the Indian rupee has become the weakest currency of Asia. Perhaps soon we may see the day when dollar will cost 100 rupees. Indian rupee is losing its value continuously.
Our economic and industrial progress is so sluggish that the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is almost nil. On the other hand, foreign investors are withdrawing and shifting their investments to greener pastures. Our exports are stagnant and imports are on the rise. A small country like Vietnam, which had to face American intervention and an unjust war, has overtaken India in exports while that country has a smaller population and smaller economy.
Donation scandal and corruption at Ram Mandir is yet another factor that has punctured the balloon of BJP’s claims of Love for Ram and Hindutva. People are conscious about the declining reputation of India in world forums. Recently Amnesty International made public the quantity of arms and ammunition which India supplied to the terrorist state of Israel. In spite of countless foreign tours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,India has lost its previous status as a respectable country.
Previously, India was being compared with China and Russia but now it is being compared with Pakistan and Bangladesh. In foreign policy and universal reputation also Pakistan has an edge on us. All available figures show that our position in Human Development Index is getting lower and lower.
Young unemployed youth are very angry about the educational standard, spectre of unemployment and a bleak future. The brutal attacks on our youth in the recent CJP protests in the capital and other cities have heightened the anger of young Indians. It is feared that we are at the verge of a disastrous future from which there is no escape in near future. Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled for 2027 may set the tone for regime change and unexpected prospects. Perhaps this is the only alternative for the communal and fascist and divide-and-rule politics the miserable citizens are suffering from.
