This is apropos of your Cover Story (Radiance, 8-14 December). The intention of Angolan government is yet not very clear as to what it aimed at by putting ban on one of the major religions of the world. One more thing to be noted here is that some images showed bulldozing of mosques soon after the ban. The common practice in such cases is that the banned items or places are sealed at least for a certain period of time before going to bulldoze them. It seems that the government has taken this decision out of some long-standing hostility. The claim of a blog that the immediate cause for the decision was a communal clash between Christians and Muslims carries weight. Obviously, the decision will have far-reaching impact.
