ISLAM-IS-PEACE IN BRITAIN

British Muslims are launching a nationwide campaign to break down barriers of suspicion and stereotypes, convey the positive message of Islam and highlight Muslim contributions to society. Championed by Muslim volunteers from across the country, the campaign aims to create grassroots awareness about the peaceful message of Islam and disseminate accurate information about the Muslim minority and their faith. It projects the lives and views of ordinary Muslims and demonstrates how British Muslims are part of the fabric of British society. Prominent figures from civil rights groups, politicians, community leaders and representatives of all faith groups will attend the official launch. Following the failed bombings in London and Glasgow in July, the campaign published full-page ads under the banner of “Muslims United” in the leading tabloid and broadsheet papers. The campaign includes plans for an exhibition to tour the country over the next two years promoting the diversity and Muslim contribution to daily life. The Islam-is-Peace campaign is receiving welcome and support messages from leading community organisations.
