The focus issue on Islamic Banking (Radiance, 17-23 November) was both informative and interesting. People are fed up with the existing banking system which sucks blood of a common man in the name of interest. But they have no option. Interest-free banking or rather Islamic Banking system enables one to borrow loan on interest-free basis and also make the clients partner in both profit and loss which differentiates this from others. Hopefully, it is a silver lining in otherwise dark clouds. But how long will this gentle breeze take to reach India is a much-awaited question. However, it is good to hear that a Shari’ah-compliant Non-Banking Financial Company is in operation in Kerala.
