There is no confrontation between Islam and democracy. 1400 years ago Islamic teachings warned against cruelty, exploitation, injustice, equality and taught about the rights of women and how to establish secular and democratic society; so linking Islam with terrorism is nothing but a well-planned conspiracy against Muslims. These were the views of famous social worker and advocate Teesta Setalvad.
Speaking as Chief Guest on in a convention on “Facts of Allegation of Islamic terrorism” at Merchant Chambers Hall in Kanpur on April 20, she said, “All the minorities i.e. Backward Class, Muslims, Christians, Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribes etc. should come together to fight against communalism.”
Mrs. Setalvad said, “Struggle is required to get justice and rights. Today, police is doing injustice with Muslim youth and there is only way to get rid of it and that is to raise your voice within the limit of law. It is the responsibility of police to see that no person should be shown on TV until and unless there is any evidence against him.” She said that there should be hotline facility so that the victim could raise his voice against the atrocity of police and in this movement advocates should be included.
