ISLAMISTS RALLY

The Indonesian Council of Ulemas (MUI), succeeded in getting an international gay and lesbian conference banned. The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association was organising a conference for three days in the cosmopolitan port city of Surabaya. It was forced to be withdrawn because of the protests of the masses spearheaded by MUI. The conference of about 100 regional organisations was aimed to share knowledge with members from 16 countries about their problems and how they overcame them.
