The presidency of the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority (PA) on March 13 called for an end to Israeli “escalations” against the Gaza Strip following a series of air raids on the Palestinian enclave. Israel struck several targets in the strip in the night of March 12. “President Abbas calls for an immediate end to the escalation against Gaza, which subjects unarmed civilians to the scourge of war,” PA spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeinah said. “Israel is killing Palestinians in cold blood,” Abbas told a joint press conference with visiting British Prime Minister David Cameron, referring to an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday that killed three Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and several other deadly incidents in the West Bank.
