Israeli attacks on Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem have earned wide condemnations from different quarters of the world.
President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Syed Sadatullah Husaini has condemned the storming of Al Aqsa mosque by Israeli police and described the act as a grave provocation that must be addressed immediately by the international community.
In a statement to the media, the JIH President on May 8 said, “We condemn the unprovoked storming of the first Qiblah of Muslims, the Holy Mosque of Al Aqsa by Israeli Police. It is reported that at least 178 Palestinian worshippers have been injured and 88 hospitalised at the Al Aqsa compound and other places in Jerusalem because of firing and violence unleashed by the Israelis.
“This condemnable act is especially despicable as it has occurred in the last days of Ramadan and it is directed at hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslims all over the world who hold the Al Aqsa Mosque in great reverence and esteem.
“We demand the international community, including the United Nations to immediately address this incident and warn the Israeli government to desist from such acts and issue an official apology for the same. We also urge the Government of India to condemn the incident, summon the Israeli Ambassador and issue a statement in this regard.”
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also condemned Israel’s “heinous” attacks against Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan, expressing solidarity with Palestinians.
“We strongly condemn Israel’s heinous attacks against our first qibla #AlAqsaMosque, that are unfortunately being carried out every Ramadan,” Erdoğan said on Twitter.
“As Turkey, we will continue to stand by our Palestinian brothers and sisters in all circumstances,” he added.
“Israel, a cruel and terrorist state, is attacking Muslims who have no purpose but to protect their ancestral homes,” he said.
Erdoğan also invited “Muslims all over the world and all predominantly Muslim countries to stand against this injustice.”
Many other countries, including Jordan and Bangladesh have also condemned the Israeli attacks on Masjid Al Aqsa.
Israel made air attack on the besieged Gaza Strip on May 10 in which at least 21 Palestinians, including children are reported to have been killed.
