It is of course unfortunate that a lady, the controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, has to suffer so much. But we must understand that it is her own making. Actually she seems to enjoy controversies and adventures surrounding her. She was aware of the consequences of her poisonous writings. Freedom of expression is not to hurt others but to make one’s stand clear.
It is not only fundamentalists but every right thinking person opposes her anti-Islam remarks. Muslim women are more offended and ashamed of her irresponsible, derogatory and loose talks which portray her as an undisciplined woman bereft of decency and decorum. Her remarks are as obscene and objectionable as the portraits of the controversial painter F.M. Hussain who is also on the run abroad.
My suggestion to her is that she should learn a lesson from all the problems she has faced here in India and elsewhere and try to mould her life for better so that she is happy.
