The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) reached an understanding with the Indian National League (INL) for mutual cooperation in the coming panchayat elections. Explaining the decisions of the IUML in the state working committee meeting held at the League House in Kozhikode on April 26, party state general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty along with state president Hyderali Shihab Thangal told reporters that several important issues, including the political strategy for the panchayat elections, were discussed at the meeting. “The leaders agreed to go ahead with an understanding with the INL in the panchayat elections,” said Mr. Kunhalikutty. He said the local committees of the party were given freedom to chalk out a seat-sharing formula at the local level.
