A regular 4-day session of the Markazi Majlis-e- Numaindagan (Central Council of Representatives) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, the apex body of the organisation, opened at the JIH headquarters in New Delhi on 2 April.
The MMN holds only two sessions during a meequat (term). In the first session held at the very beginning of the meequat, it elects Ameer and Members of the Markazi Majlis-e-Shoora (Central Advisory Council) for the 4-year meequat. A two-year report of the organisational activities is also presented before this apex body.
Before the beginning of the MMN session, the Shoora also holds its session. And, if any important issue remains undecided in the Shoora, it goes to the upcoming MMN session. Besides, the MMN also considers any amendment in the constitution of the Jamaat proposed by any rukn (member) of the Jamaat.
The MMN presently comprises 144 members, including 22 ladies.
