Japan has formally joined a body that will help facilitate peace talks between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), according to a letter sent by the Japanese government to Manila. “The government of Japan accepts your invitation… to become a member of the International Contact Group (ICG),” Japanese Ambassador Makoto Katsura said in his two-page acceptance letter sent to media by the Department of Foreign Affairs. Turkey also announced last November 24 its formal inclusion in the peace talks facilitating body.
