Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed on Feb. 15 reiterated the government’s resolve to realise a drug free society by making use of all available means to combat the spreading of drugs and prevent their smuggling into the Kingdom. He made the remarks while launching the longest ever anti-drug awareness programme, organised by Jeddah’s Drug Combating Department in Jeddah. The yearlong comprehensive programme features several programmes and activities aimed at educating the younger generation about the evils of drug abuse. The programme is being implemented with the participation of all sections of people, organisations and institutions, including schools, universities, ministries, societies and specialised agencies in the region. Prince Mishaal underscored the need for exerting collective efforts to combat drug abuse.
“All members of the society have been invited to take part in this programme to protect our young men and women from becoming victims of drug abuse, which is destructive to the future of the country. We can’t say that there are neither any victims of drug abuse nor drug dealers in the society,” he said adding that it is the national duty of every citizen to shoulder the collective responsibility to tackle drugs and protect families, society and the country.
