The JIH leaders met Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Party’s central office to express their gratitude for opposing the Bill in both houses of Parliament, the party said in a statement.

They presented a memorandum highlighting various concerns related to the Bill. In response, YS Jagan reassured them that the YSRCP would continue to support and protect the interests of the Waqf and the minority community.

The meeting was attended by former Deputy Chief Minister AmzadBasha, former AP Haj Committee Chairman GhouseLajam, and former Haj Committee members Muneer Basha, Ibadullah, and MushahidBaig.

YSRCP parliamentary party leader V. Vijayasai Reddy had addressed a public meeting organised by JIH at Vijayawada on November 3 to oppose Waqf Bill.

Vijayasai Reddy, who is also a member of Joint Parliamentary Commission (JPC) on Waqf Bill, said their party was against the Waqf Bill in its present form. He said the party conveyed its objections on nine points in the Waqf Bill to the JPC.

The MP said in last meeting of JPC, the party gave its dissenting note on nine points.

He said reforms should be welcomed but they should not be to dismantle, destroy and decimate Waqf institutions.
