The recent shooting at a middle school in Connecticut resulted in the death of around 20 children and left the whole world aghast. Similar kinds of cases have been reported in the US and other parts of the world in the past; however this incident is more shocking as it targeted the innocent and innocuous children who were yet to experience the world outside. The killer went on the shooting spree and brutally killed the children. It was so inhumane that the tender bodies of the children had multiple bullet injuries.

In the wake of the incident Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari, in a letter to the President of the United States of America, Barack Husain Obama, expressed his deep sorrow over the sordid incident. Expressing shock and awe, he wrote that the incident has left the whole world in a state of shock. Secretary General of United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki Moon and the heads of other different countries have condemned this inhuman act and sent condolence messages to the families of the victims. Besides, people all across the globe have come forward and are praying for solace for the families of the victims.

The Ameer, as a leader of the popular Muslim organisation (Jamaat-e-Islami Hind) paid commiserations on behalf of the members of Jamaat and all Indian Muslims in particular and on behalf of the citizens of India, in general. He further prayed to Allah the Almighty to bestow His blessings upon the families and relatives of those innocent children who have fallen prey to this horrifying incident. The USA announced the national mourning after the incident to share grieves of the public while the demand to prohibit carrying arms in public places is growing.

The JIH leader wrote that the public of USA should go one step ahead from their demand to prohibit arms in public places and raise their voices against more dangerous arms which are continuing to cause heavy destructions in different parts of the world.

The Ameer said he would have visited in person the city of New Town to share the sorrows of victims’ families had the distance not created hurdles in the way. However, he requested the President’s office to send his condolence message to each and every family of the deceased.
