The Maharashtra chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has successfully completed its ambitious 10-day state-wide campaign, ‘Islam For All’, through which the message of Islam was conveyed to more than 3 crore residents of Maharashtra from 9 to 18 January. The members and associates of JIH – both men and ladies – utilised all available resources of time, energy and skill to reach out to as many people, with many others joining in realising the importance of this noble endeavour.

The true achievement of this campaign can be gauged by the overwhelming response of the citizens of the state who wholeheartedly welcomed the Jamaat’s gesture of brotherhood. They were grateful that the Jamaat was striving to forge inter-communal harmony by clearing misconceptions from everyone’s minds regarding Islam and Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him). “You should do this more often” was the common refrain.

By means of both individual and collective efforts, the universal guidance of the Qur’ān and teachings of the Prophet were shared with the people irrespective of their religion, class, race or gender. Corner meetings and bookstalls were arranged at bus-stands and railway stations, hospitals and schools, market places and public parks, in local trains and police stations.

People were given free copies of the Qur’ān in English, Hindi and Marathi along with several booklets and folders to acquaint them with the message of their Lord. Public addresses, exhibitions, street plays and peace rallies were also organised at multiple locations at the behest of local units. Senior Jamaat leaders toured the length and breadth of Maharashtra in the form of seven caravans to assist the local units in carrying out this massive work.

Social media was tapped in like never before, reaching out to lakhs of netizens through Facebook, twitter and whatsapp. Three free android applications were also launched on this occasion – ‘Islam For All’, ‘Qur’ān For All’ and ‘Muhammad For All’ in order to make info on Islam available on one’s fingertips. The ‘Qur’ān For All’ application is unique in the sense that it contains within it translation of the Qur’ān in multiple Indian languages making the Qur’ān easily accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

The President of JIH Maharashtra, Mr. Taufiq Aslam Khan was jubilant at having achieved, and indeed crossed, the projected target of reaching out to 3 crore people and was thankful to the Almighty for having given the members of the Jamaat the help and strength to serve His cause.
