JIH Goa Hosts Family Counselling Workshop

In the inaugural address, Nazmeen Shaikh introduced the program, explained the term ‘counselling’ and underlined the need for pre-marital counselling, saying it’s need of the hour in today’s scenario which allows people to discuss their problems and difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Goa’s Family Counselling Department organised a marital counselling workshop at the Centre for Study of Philosophy and Humanities (CSPH) here Saturday.

The program commenced with recitation and translation of the Qur’anic verses by Shehnaz Shaikh.

In the inaugural address, Nazmeen Shaikh introduced the program, explained the term ‘counselling’ and underlined the need for pre-marital counselling, saying it’s need of the hour in today’s scenario which allows people to discuss their problems and difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment.

The program continued with Basics of Counselling by the clinical psychologist Sharmin Deshmukh.She explained the basic stages of counselling, essential skills and responsibilities a counsellor needs to perform.

Akila Bepari, a psychological counsellor, took over the stage with her topic ‘Pre- and post-marital counselling’.

She emphasized the importance of marital counselling, saying that the essence of pre-marital counselling lies in its ability to help would-be couples understand and embrace the Islamic marriage paradigm, evaluate their compatibility, and develop strategies for navigating future challenges.
