In an important development in Assam, top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Bodoland Territorial Council on 16 January met to discuss how to accelerate the rehabilitation of the riot victims which took place about six months ago in the BTAD area of Assam. BTC leaders, during the meeting, proposed to hold a joint peace march in the area and to send a joint delegation to Sonia Gandhi for hike in compensation money. The Jamaat has aimed its work for lasting peace and stability in the area since the riots hit the region. As part of the mission, a delegation of Jamaat led by Muhammad Shafi Madani, National Secretary JIH and In-charge of Assam Relief Works, met Hagrama Mohilary, Chief Executive of BTC at Kokrajhar. BTAD chief assured the Jamaat leader of full cooperation. Mr. Madani also expressed his willingness to get the book ‘The Life of Prophet Muhammad (SWT)’ by Prof. Ramakrishna Rao translated into Bodo language.
