To fast-track the uploading and registration of Waqf property details on the government’s Umeed Portal, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has launched a dedicated Waqf Help Desk at its headquarters. The facility, designed to support mutawallis, mosque imams, and administrators of religious institutions, was inaugurated by JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini.
In his address, Husaini described the protection of Waqf properties as a “serious collective challenge” for the Muslim community and stressed the need for united efforts. He noted that JIH Waqf Department has long been active in this field, both at the national level and in several states where registration work is already underway.
With limited time left and an enormous volume of properties to be registered, he urged the establishment of similar support centres across the country to accelerate the process. He emphasised that the Supreme Court’s interim directive to upload all Waqf property records on the WAMSI (Waqf Asset Management System of India) Portal has become a mandatory step to meet the official deadline.
Husaini made it clear that completing the registration does not signify relinquishing the fight against the controversial Waqf Amendment Act. “Our legal battle against this unjust legislation will continue alongside the registration process,” he asserted.
The Desk coordinator Inamur Rahman Khan saidit has been established precisely to overcome these hurdles.
