The Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Mr. Nusrat Ali has said in a press statement on August 14 that a strong and continuous struggle is required at the moment to root out the evil of corruption from our society. He has appealed to the government to work for the betterment of the people of this country and has urged the government to listen to the demands of the people.
The Jamaat leader said on the occasion of the 64th Independence Day that although the country has done exceptionally well and developed in the fields of science and technology etc. yet when it comes to justice, ethics, morals, principles etc. we find that it is following a downward trend. And this condition can easily be seen by merely looking at the records of the cases against the top brass of the country, some of whom are behind the bars. He went ahead and said that it is shocking that those people in whom the citizens had put their trust betray and loot the country of its wealth.
The Jamaat leader said that instead of paying heed to the Lokpal Bill proposed by Mr. Anna Hazare, the government is reckoning him as a rival to the Parliament, which in itself is creating unnecessary tension.
He said the Jamaat is with the Anna Hazare’s movement and asked the government to look into the matter with utmost concern and take the necessary steps.
In another statement on August 17, the Jamaat leader said that the arrest of Anna and his companions is unnecessary and disgusting, and deemed it against democratic values. He said that although it is the Parliament that has the right to make laws, yet trashing the sound demands of the citizens is not good.
The Jamaat leader urged the government to look for the pros present in the Lokpal Bill and shun its unconstitutional attitude which is creating chaos in the country.
