Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has expressed concern over the reported demolition order involving 38 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, urging the authorities to safeguard the academic future of thousands of students while ensuring fairness and equal application of the law.
JIH Vice President Malik Moatasim Khan said educational institutions represent years of public investment, collective effort and academic commitment. He stated that any administrative action affecting such institutions must place students’ interests above all other considerations.
“The reported demolition order has created anxiety among students, parents, teachers and the academic community. Whatever legal issues exist, the education, examinations, degrees, research work and academic future of students deserve priority and full protection,” he said.
Mr. Khan questioned why similar standards were not being applied uniformly across educational institutions if regulatory violations formed the basis of the action.
“If regulatory violations are indeed the reason for the demolition order, why are identical standards not enforced consistently across all educational institutions in the country? Why is this particular university being singled out?” he asked.
He also referred to reports claiming that the university buildings were constructed before the area came under the jurisdiction of the Rampur Development Authority.
