A delegation led by Mohammad Shafi Madani, Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, recently visited the riot hit areas of Meerut and Muzaffarnagar and formed a high level committee to carry out relief and rehabilitation work for riot victims. Giving details of the plan, Mr. Madani said, “There are three major tasks to be carried out in the riot-hit areas: 1- Legal Aid, 2- Complete survey of all riot-affected people and loss of lives and properties, and 3- Rehabilitation of all displaced persons including their livelihood.” He further added that the committee will conduct a thorough survey of the riot hit area and registering of FIRs will also be done along with survey work. The committee will mainly focus on safe rehabilitation of all displaced persons. But some emergency relief work will also be done like providing sanitation, medical facilities and other day to day needs in relief camps. Mr. Madani was accompanied by Syed Akhlaq, Coordinator Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), his assistant Mr. Abubakar Sabbaq, Anwarul Haq and others.
