The father of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah had always wanted a friendly relationship with India and propagated communal harmony. The information sought under RTI reveals. The RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal had asked the All India Radio to provide the copies of the speeches of Jinnah delivered during partition campaign. In his speech on 3 June 1947, Jinnah had said, “There’s a huge responsibility on Indian leaders to concentrate all our energies to see that transfer of power is done in a peaceful manner. I request Muslims in India especially to maintain peace.” After formation of Pakistan, he had appealed to the Pakistani leaders to maintain friendly relationship with other community members and leaders. “It will be our constant effort to work for the welfare and well being of all the communities in Pakistan and I hope that everyone would be inspired by the idea of public service,” he had said.
