The Karnataka government on April 11 accepted the long-awaited Socio-Economic and Educational Survey (popularly known as the caste census) report. This caste census has proposed a substantial revision in the state’s reservation structure. The report proposes reclassification of castes under a new six-category matrix, up from the existing five. It recommends splitting Category 1 into two, 1-A and 1-B, and applying the creamy layer concept even to Category 1, which had previously been exempted.

A new Category 1-A has been created specifically for nomadic and most backward castes. These communities, which were earlier included in Category 2-A, have now been moved to 1-A, which will be allotted 6 percent reservation.

Orphan children without caste identification are also covered under this group. The 1-A population is pegged at approximately 34.96 lakh, or 8.4 percent of the state’s population. Category 1, as a whole, currently receives 4 percent reservation.

Other States should follow suit.

Kudos to Respected Dr.Zafarul-Islam Khan Saheb

Respected Dr.Zafarul-Islam Khan Saheb, the President of AIMMM, has fully endorsed the Buddhist community’s long-standing demand for complete control over the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya. He stated that Buddhists worldwide revere the Mahabodhi Temple as the sacred site where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment in 500 BCE. He reaffirmed AIMMM’s solidarity with the Buddhist community, strongly supporting their demand that the Mahabodhi Temple be fully handed over to Buddhists without further delay.

As a Muslim, we should speak up for other minorities who have been wronged or to whom injustice has been done by the regime. Kudos to Dr. Khan saheb for his exemplary courage.

May his tribe increase.

Education System Reforms

The recent articles highlighting the shortcomings of our education system resonate deeply with many citizens. Our focus should shift from rote learning to critical thinking and practical skills.

The current curriculum often fails to prepare students for real-world challenges, fostering an environment that stifles creativity and innovation.

Reforms are essential, including teacher training, infrastructure development, and incorporating technology in classrooms. Investing in education today will yield tremendous benefits for our nation’s future. Let’s push for these much-needed changes.

‘Ugliest Form of Genocide’

An Israeli warplane fired two missiles into the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital on April 13, causing damage to the facility, which serves over a million Palestinians in northern Gaza. Palestine denounced it as “one of the ugliest forms of genocide.”“This is a clear contempt for international law, humanitarian principles, and the global community,” the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry accused Israel of “deliberately destroying 34 hospitals in Gaza since the war began and imposing starvation, thirst, and a blockade on vital medical supplies.”

“This crime would not have occurred without the complicity and failure of the international community to act,” it said, holding the UN Security Council fully responsible for its “failure to protect civilians, enforce an immediate ceasefire, open humanitarian corridors, and initiate sustainable aid and reconstruction efforts.”

This is the worst form of genocide. It surpasses even the Rwandan genocide. Israel cannot commit this genocide without the support of its ally, the United States of America and the criminal silence of Arab countries. Allah the Almighty is watching everything.
