A delegation of the Karnataka Muslim Muttahida Mahaz met Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara on Feb. 24 to discuss the prevailing law-and-order situation in the state and concerns over attempts to disturb communal harmony.
During the meeting, members of the delegation expressed apprehension that certain fringe elements were allegedly trying to create unrest for vested interests. They urged the state government to take firm legal action against anyone found inciting tensions and to ensure the maintenance of peace and social stability.
Marking the blessed month of Ramadan, Mohammed Yousuf Kani, Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka, presented the Home Minister with a set of books, including an English translation of the Holy Qur’an and literature introducing Islamic teachings. The gesture was described as a goodwill initiative aimed at promoting mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence, and interfaith harmony.
The delegation was led by Muslim Muttahida Mahaz Convener Masood Abdul Qadir and included Allah Bakhsh AdawalAmri and other office-bearers.
Responding to the delegation, Dr. Parameshwara assured members that the government remains committed to upholding law and order and will take necessary measures to safeguard communal harmony across Karnataka.
The meeting also underscored the importance of dialogue and constructive engagement among communities to maintain peace and unity in the state.
