With no word yet from Spanish authorities on the imprisonment or release of 50-year-old Mumbai resident Roshan Jamal Khan in Madrid in connection with an alleged terror plot, his wife Farida and brother Mehboob met Spanish Consul-General Cesar Alba March 31 and submitted an appeal seeking his release. “My husband was arrested from Barcelona by Spanish authorities on January 19 and has been held for 72 days without being produced in court and tried,” Farida said.

According to a report, Mehboob Khan, brother of Jamal Khan said that we have already sent letters to the Prime Minister’s Office and to the Ministry of External Affairs. Agencies like the CBI and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad have checked my brother’s record and character right from his days as a student in St. Xavier’s College. Our government has given a clean chit, and he should be released without any further delay. When asked about the response of Alba, Consul-General, he said that “we met him and he assured us that he would be able to give us some kind of reply on the situation in seven days.”
