KIN OF FAKE ENCOUNTERED COMPENSATED

The government of Uttar Pradesh has compensated Rs 5 lakh to the family of Nusrat Khan, who was killed in a fake encounter in Ghaziabad on August 22, 2004. City S.P. Rajiv Malhotra handed over the cheque to the wife of the victim and assured protection. Nusrat was the only bread-earner, so after his unfortunate killing the family faced great hardship. Nusrat’s wife had lodged an FIR in the local police station and also pleaded to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that her husband was innocent and was forcibly taken by the cops from the house and encountered. The NHRC in its investigation found the encounter fake and ordered the state government to compensate the aggrieved family.
