A special court accused 60 persons, including former state minister Maya Kodnani and Bajrang Dal activist Babu Bajrangi on October 8 in connection with Naroda Patia massacre. They are accused of deliberately killing 95 Muslims on February 28, 2002. The court held Kodnani accused of provoking the mob, firing from a pistol and distributing swords among people present on the spot. Charges have been levelled against the accused of conspiracy, killing people, damaging property and hurting religious feelings of Muslim community with intention. The accused have also been charged with rape and putting the innocent children on fire.
