Suresh Kalmadi, who has been jailed for indulging in corrupt practices during the CWG, has been rightly questioned by the Delhi High Court about his need to attend the monsoon session of Parliament. The Court has also been precise in asking for Kalmadi’s attendance record in the previous Lok Sabha sessions and the extent to which he participated in the House proceedings. Of late Kalmadi has been claiming loss of memory. Medically, therefore, he is unfit to attend Lok Sabha. Again, a member, who has been jailed for corrupt practices, cannot participate in proceedings regarding framing of laws and bills for the country. He is a criminal and what is now required is his hundred per cent attendance in the jail.
