Dr. S Ausaf Saied Vasfi in his article, “Let Muslim Leadership Rise to the Occasion” (Radiance, 3-9 June) asks for a Public Interest Litigation to be filed in the Supreme Court on the question as to why the Saffron parties are given a clean chit in all cases of terror blasts. This is a good suggestion but it would be better if it was taken up at the Hyderabad High Court level first.
But the other suggestion that a high level Muslim leadership delegation should meet the Prime Minister in the presence of the Union Home Minister is just a throw back to the habit of begging the heartless for crumbs of justice, and is at best resolutely ignored.
Even otherwise, it is known that law and order is a state subject. Also the Chief Minister of Andhra has expressed what was clearly visible on the TV screens as a sincere sense of sorrow at the tragedy. Why then disbelieve him and go to the Prime Minister whose party has never kept its promises during the last 60 years, to the poor, the hapless and the wretched of this country in general and to the Muslims in particular.
I would not comment on the usefulness of going to the President. It would be beneath his dignity for me to be critical of him.
