Allah’s Messengerﷺ said, “Every religion has a distinct characteristic, and the distinct characteristic of Islam is modesty.”
(Sunan Ibn Mājah)
This hadith explains that every religion has its own unique characteristic, and the distinct characteristic of Islam is modesty. This hadith teaches us that we should not entertain anything prohibited i.e. anything indecent, immoral, unethical, and un-Islamic. It means that we should always strive to be modest in our behaviour, words, and actions so that we can live according to the teachings of Islam and win the pleasure of Allah. We should remember that being modest does not mean being weak; rather it is a sign of strength and wisdom.
We should be conscious enough to ensure that the Muslim community undergoes self-accountability and cleanse their lives of un-Islamic elements. We should maintain appropriate distance between men and women; this is the essence of Islamic Shari’ah. Boyfriend-girlfriend culture is against Islam; let’s protect our children from it.Sexual relations without marriage are haram (prohibited) and should have no place in the Muslim community. In this sense, there should be no compromise on modesty, chastity, and purity. Let us strive to protect the natural sense of modesty in children from being wasted in thepostmodern wave of moral anarchy.
Let us follow Islamic principles in our day-to-day life, in our dress and lifestyle, in the way we talk to neighbours and even strangers. Dressing girls like boys is not a sign of progress and development. The Prophet ﷺ cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men.
