Your editorial on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) (Radiance Viewsweekly, 14-20 October 2012) is timely. The FDI issue should be taken both as a matter of national security and as financial disequilibrium between the rich and the poor. We should not forget that the English started establishing their rule in our country with the establishment of East India Company. And a large number of poor traders and artisans are going jobless due to this FDI.
Shopping malls, plazas, eat streets, etc. opening in cities as a result of Government’s relaxation in conditions for FDI are also proving an onslaught on our culture. Non-governmental organisations as well as social scientists should come to the fore to raise their voice against the increasing relaxation being granted to corporate sectors.
