A cursory glance at the socio-political developments in the world tells us that we are leaving in a ‘peace-less’ society. From the killing fields of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the Hindutva laboratory in Gujarat, every act of terror confirms the fact that it is the will of the powers that be to impose their authority and haughtiness on the minorities that spoils peace. There are tall, but sometimes justified, claims of developments and advancements in the various fields. But if there is no progress and development in any field, it is in ensuring world peace. It is not that no effort has been made to make peace a reality; it has been made at the various national and international levels. But we see much to our dismay the League of Nations lying in the dustbin of history and the United Nations all set to follow suit for their utter failure in restoring and maintaining world peace. The result is that humanity is writhing on the hotbed of conceit and overlordism, communalism and fascism, hegemony and imperialism, et al.

All this shows that owing to whims and inconsistencies human intellect sans Divine guidance cannot bring peace to the world not to say of ensuring it.

At a time when the safety and security of human life is at stake, when we cannot walk without fear, when an independent, sovereign nation is bombarded, when killing innocent lives is taken as sure way to power, when rape is exploited as a powerful weapon, and when the strong and powerful are leaving no stone unturned to subjugate the weak and poor, Radiance Viewsweekly has taken up the cudgel to knock at the world conscience to see how the message of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be with him) can help ensure real and total peace – peace of mind, peace in family, peace in society, peace within and peace without.

The Islamic concept of peace is based on solid grounds. One of the greatest achievements of the Holy Prophet (peace to him) is that he disciplined the barbaric Arabs and established peace in the Islamic State of Madinah within a short period of 10 years since his migration from Makkah and with no undue bloodshed. No other social reformer in any period of human history has achieved this distinction. The success of the Holy Prophet’s mission lies in its God-centredness and sincere implementation of the Divine prescription. This fact underscores the possibility of bringing peace to the world once again. The Prophetic footprints are there; the need is to follow them.

Peace is threatened when some dispute, conflict or confrontation is allowed to linger. Turning the pages of the Holy Prophet’s Seerah, we can solve any conflict whatsoever by referring it to God and/or His Prophet viz. in the light of Islamic Shari’ah.

Now the question is: when the Muslims have this proven prescription for peace, why doesn’t peace prevail at least in the Muslim world? The answer is plain and simple: Muslims do not follow the teachings of Islam in the way the Holy Prophet and his Companions used to do; that is why they fail to reap the desired result. But one thing is certain that if Muslims start leading an active Islamic life with the sole aim to win the pleasure of God, they will not only make their own lives peaceful but be able to lead the world community toward establishing world peace. It is of paramount importance for the Muslims world over to strive in this regard when they are celebrating the 1481st birth anniversary of the Last Prophet.
