Our country is a signatory to UN’s International Charter of Human Rights. Our Constitution is also the standard bearer of human rights. But it is a tragedy that even after 65 years of independence weaker sections of society like women, the poor, Dalits, minorities, etc., are victims of human rights violations. Communal and caste riots, police atrocities, custodial torture and deaths, child abuse, mass rapes, murders, female foeticide, suicides, starvation deaths, etc., have become way of life in our society.

Most of the people are deprived of food, clothing, basic health and education facilities. Dalits and tribals are deprived of respect and dignity. Thousands of innocent women are burnt to death for bringing insufficient dowry every year. We must raise our voice against such atrocities and violations of human rights. Criminals, rapists, rioters, murderers, law breakers, terrorists, etc. should be severely punished. Free and speedy justice for all should be ensured.
